This Dawn redwood is a decidious conifer height up to 25-30 m. Grows fast and has a pyramidal crown with straight protruding trunk, slightly resembling Taxodium, also in the shape of its leaf. Light green needles that turn brown in autumn. Resistant to urban air pollution. Very hardy and stormproof and grows on almost any slightly humous soil types.

Metasequoia glyptostroboides is a very decorative park tree, as a specimen tree or in small groups.
