The Japanese cherry - Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan' - is a strong grower with a wide vase-shaped crown, 10-12 m high. Shoots are bronze in colour and emerge simultaniously with the flowers. Flowering period is April/ May with dense bunches of double pink flowers. Specimen tree for parks and public gardens and also used as an avenue and street tree. Very valuable and strong.
