Rosmolen, Tilburg

Innovative landscaping design at its best

The residential area Rosmolen has been transformed into an unique living space because of an innovative planting design. Important in this design, was the social aspect; the design was based on encountering. There are 4 streets in Rosmolen and each street now has its own theme. The 4 themes taste, smell, touch and see, stimulate the senses. The playful lay-out of the planting beds and the trail that leads across the streets, invites its habitants to go outside and stroll around in Rosmolen. There is enough space for children to play and discover.

When walking through Rosmolen one quickly notices that each street has its own character. The choice of trees and plants was based on the particular themes. For instance in the street with theme taste, several Malus dom. Elstar apple trees were planted and combined with different herbs, such as Allium, Mentha and Thymus. The street with theme see, has beautiful contrasting colours of Nepeta and Salvia with the yellow foliage of Choisya. Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Sunburst‘ has been planted throughout the residential area, and their yellow and delicate foliage beautifully contrasts with the red bricks of the homes. With ist light pink blossom, the ornamental cherry Prunus ‘Accolade‘ announces the beginning of spring. In adjacent streets, Acer campestre ‘Red Shine’ en Amelanchier arborea ‘Robin Hill’ were planted.

Boomkwekerij Udenhout supplied all perennials, shrubs and multistems and trees. Brouwers Groenaannemers was responsible for the execution and finishing of the project in 2018.
