City park Motten in Tongeren, Belgium has undergone a complete transformation. The river Jeker now flows above ground again and a beautiful park, surrounding the river Jeker, has been realised. An upscale project of 17 ha with a water experience garden, sunbathing areas and multiple sport facilities. Landscaper Tuinen Stijn Bouchet was responsible for the construction and maintenance, Nursery Udenhout supplied all the trees.

Around 600 large Linden, plane, sweetgum and other trees have been planted. It was decided to plant large specimen that would have an immediate effect on the surroundings, After plantation citizen of Tongeren felt a decrease in temperature and many butterflies and birds flying around the trees, have been spotted already.

In 2020 the City Park Motten received the first price for Best public space (Belgium) and acknowledges the fact that the park has become a beautiful, sustainable location where people can meet, relax and enjoy nature.
