Well-known Rowan tree, with inclining branches. When maturing, it develops a wider and rounder crown, with overhanging twigs because of its heavy fruiting. Height 10-15 m. Pinnate leaf, dull green, with orangey red autumn colour.

In May, the flower colour is creamy white to off-white. Fruits in rich hanging bunches, warm orangey red (birds feed on them!). The Common rowan tree endures dust, smoke and exhaust gasses reasonably well. Hardly any soil requirements and it can be used as brushwood and in thickets. At a young age, Sorbus aucuparia endures shade. Once grown full-sized the tree prefers light, partly because of the heavy fruiting. This native tree is not regularly in shape. Used as a park tree in groups for state parks etc. In addition, this variety is used in landscaping and forestry and as understory in wooded banks.
