The Pillows Hotel
The Pillows Hotel on the Mauritskade in Amsterdam will open in 2022. The former UvA laboratory has been transformed into a luxurious five-star hotel. The accompanying roof garden has the same appearance and high-quality finish.
Roof garden at ground level
Parking was also taken into account during the renovation and extension of the characteristic building. This is done underground, creating a roof garden that opens up to ground level.
Park major influence
The adjacent Oosterpark has a major influence on the garden. The choice of large trees and a great diversity of plants ensures a seamless transition between the park and the hotel garden.
(300 Van der Tol constructed the outdoor area. Udenhout Tree Nursery supplied all the plants (trees, multi-stems, shrubs, forest plants, perennials). O.a. these mature trees can be found in the roof garden; Tilia cordata (stem circumference 70-80), Prunus avium (70-80), Zelkova carpinifolia (40-45), Ulmus 'Dodoens' (30-35), Quercus bicolor (45-50). Multi-stemmed species include Cornus kousa (250-300), Pinus sylvestris (600-700), Amelanchier lamarckii (250-300) and Quercus phellos -400).
It has become a beautiful roof garden.
